Central Bank of Egypt decisions to support digital transformation Starting from July 1st to December 31, 2022

  1. Issuance of prepaid cards free of charge for citizens, provided that they must be contactless smart cards.

 

  1. Exemption from all electronic activation services fees via Internet (E-Commerce) for companies that is willing to activate this digital financial service for the first time.In case of bank transfers are held through electronic methods in Egyptian pound only (internet, mobile banking and instant payments network applications), the individuals shall be exempted from all bank transfers expenses and commissions.

  2. In case of using contactless smart payment tools issued by banks operated in Egypt without entering passwords, the repealing of all fees and commissions borne by private sector traders through electronic points shall be continued.

  3. ATMs:

  • Cash withdrawal transactions are free of charge through ATMs of the same bank of the customer.

  • 5 EGP is a maximum amount of expenses incurred by the customer for any cash withdrawal process performed from ATMs of other banks

  • In case of withdrawal from ATMs of other banks, the customer’s limit shall be 4000 EGP

  1. Mobile wallets:

  • Continuing of issuance E-wallets for free

  • Exemption from transfer fees for the first monthly transaction

  • In case of any transfer transaction is made between mobile wallets of the same service provider, the maximum expenses that the customer shall incur is 1 EGP.
